Craig Wright is still being accused in the legal dispute over who invented Bitcoin of forging documents to back up his claim to be Satoshi Nakamoto. But according to Wright, someone forged the documents to put him in a bad light.
Craig Wright’s claim to be the founder of Bitcoin is clouded by allegations of “industrial scale” forgery in Wright v. COPA.
Despite allegations that he falsified documents to support his identity in the well-known Crypto Open Patent Alliance (COPA) litigation, Craig Wright remained unwavering in his claim to be the creator of Bitcoin, Satoshi Nakamoto. Following Wright’s settlement proposal, Bitcoin.com News covered the Wright v. COPA case. The settlement offer was rejected by COPA “hard pass” before the trial.
The trial transcript was by the X user “ as he shed light on a separate case involving Wright versus Hodlonaut. Wright alleges that numerous disputed documents, including emails and source code, were fabricated by hostile parties like Ira Kleiman and former associates to discredit him. Referring to a purported 2008 email between Wright and Dave Kleiman, Wright stated Kleiman doctored the document, saying “My understanding was that it was a real document.
Wright was unable to conclusively verify the email’s legitimacy, though. “I pretended to be involved in everything, saying I was not.” As bitnorbert’s transcript explains, “I was forbidden from even asking [Savannah] anything about trustees.” “I verified that this is not a genuine document after [year].” I repeatedly said to the magistrate that I couldn’t tell if it was real. Wright is cited as saying, “I know now that this didn’t happen and that document isn’t real.”
Wright argues he was not able to verify the authenticity of a number of documents that were flagged as forgeries that he had previously attested to in court. “It’s a paper from a third party, I said. A third party asked me to verify a paper that I had never seen,” he said. Although Wright insists that he wrote the initial Bitcoin white paper, he admits that there are versions of the text that are in dispute that have changes that he claims were done by someone else with bad intentions
“Wholly genuine. Wright made the following statement about forensic analyses that suggested manipulation: “None of the people have seen it.”
Inconsistencies in Wright’s accounts raise questions about his trustworthiness notwithstanding his accusations of framing attempts. This Thursday, COPA released a statement regarding the trial in addition to bitnorbert’s transcript of Wright’s examination. The COPA spokesman stated, “We contend that Dr. Wright’s assertion that he is Satoshi Nakamoto is a flagrant fabrication, an intricate false story bolstered by industrial-scale forgery.”
Wright will be trying to establish his identity as Satoshi Nakamoto for a few more weeks.
