Report: Bitcoin ETF Launches Recently, But Crypto Ads Avoid Super Bowl LVIII

After a flurry of bitcoin advertisements appeared to secure commercial slots for promotions before the 2022 Super Bowl, the next year saw none at all. According to a recent investigation on the topic, the tendency is expected to continue until 2024. The 58th Super Bowl will not include any new cryptocurrency company advertising, despite the fact that multiple companies have released ads for exchange-traded funds (ETFs).

Crypto Businesses Pull Out of the 2024 Super Bowl Ad Schedule
Crypto firms will not be presenting advertising during this year’s Super Bowl, according to a report issued by Fox Business News reporter Eleanor Terrett just before the game on Sunday.

The competition between the Kansas City Chiefs, the American Football Conference’s (AFC) champions, and the San Francisco 49ers, their NFC rivals, will be the main attraction of the 58th Super Bowl.

The chief marketing officer of Kraken, Mayur Gupta, told Terrett in her report that the company had decided not to purchase Super Bowl commercial space.

“The next wave of cryptocurrency users will come from all over the world, not just the United States,” Gupta stated. “The Super Bowl is a very U.S.-centric event.” “This current wave of crypto marketing needs to be rooted in education and awareness for the substance and true value proposition of crypto as a movement that will bring financial freedom and inclusion, if the previous wave was all about hype and FOMO (Fear of Missing Out).”

Not a single bitcoin company purchased advertising during the Chiefs vs. Eagles Super Bowl last year. Nonetheless, a number of companies, including Etoro, Coinbase, FTX, and Crypto.com, made their mark with ads in 2022, prior to the demise of FTX. The famous “Seinfeld” creator Larry David mockingly called himself a “idiot” for taking part in the FTX commercial that year.

Terrett’s analysis also provides insight into cryptocurrency businesses such as Bitwise, who have lately aired advertisements leading up to their ETF launches. She does, however, emphasize that sources close to Blackrock have verified the financial behemoth will not run Super Bowl ads this year.

The broadcast of Super Bowl LVIII is set for Sunday, February 11, 2024, at 6:30 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time. Two weeks prior, forecasts from cryptocurrency betting sites like Polymarket, which supported the 49ers to win the championship, were reported by Bitcoin.com News. With just one day to go before the big game, Polymarket’s current odds favor the 49ers, giving them a 53% chance to win, while the Chiefs are trailing with a 47% chance.
